PRESCOTT COLLEGE SUMMER INSTITUTE
Dreaming the Creative Self
Dreams are the royal road into the creative unconscious, wisdom, and the true Self. Exploring nocturnal and day dreams, wishes, and heart's desires, we map out life, relationships, work/career, health, etc. We explore dreams through drawing, collage, movements, and role-playing. We also engage in journal dialogues with image and stories.
Healing the Body Mind: The Body as Storyteller
Practical techniques are presented for discovering the messages contained in illness, pain and negative body image, and how to release body mind stress. Included is recent research by Candace Pert and other scientists in body mind medicine. We draw body maps and interview the body, creating "visual affirmations" with positive pictures and self-talk.
Inner Family, Inner Child: Healing Ourselves, Healing Our Relationships
We strengthen our Inner Family by developing a Nurturing and Protective Parent to care for the Inner Child. Taking responsibility for our own physical and emotional needs, we remove expectations for self-care from others, healing our relationships. Using the Creative Journal Method we draw and write with the non-dominant hand.
Visioning®: Designing the Life of Your Dreams
Visioning® is a visual approach to personal and organizational planning. Through photo collage, drawing, and writing with the non-dominant hand, we think with both sides of the brain. "Wish maps" are created, followed by journaling to remove blocks to success. Group sharing reinforces the dream by rallying support from others.

Tues. Sept. 16 Lucia departs from Rome
The estimated costs paid to Lucia Capacchione (for rooms, workshops, and tours with Lucia) is $2,000 USD for double occupancy room. $2500 for single occupancy. These prices may have to be slightly adjusted depending on the US dollar value vs. Euros at the time of the trip. On my tours we mostly walk, so there are not a lot of cab and bus fees in the towns where we are staying. We will rent vans for travel from Venice to Florence, Florence to Assist, and Assisi to Rome.
You will be responsible for:
• booking and paying your airfare (Marsha Nelson, a former travel agent, can give you tips about transportation: mmgamel@hiline.net)
• meals (most places include breakfast with rooms and there is no charge to you beyond the room)
• percentage of van rental fees, gas, tolls on the autostrada, extra packaged tours (optional), and local buses, gondolas, etc.
Let’s re-cap estimated costs of this trip for budgeting purposes:
• $2,000 double occ, $2,500 single occ - each.
• $1,200 or more for airfare, depending on point of departure. You will need to determine what your own airfare will be.
• $1,000 (more or less) for meals and ground transportation.
• Create your own budget for shopping and extra tour costs.
• TOTAL estimated costs = $4,200 - $4,700 USD
To assure your place I need a firm commitment and deposit of $250 per person by April 30th, 2008. You will be notified later of the final payment deadline. You may pay by credit card, but there is a 5% administrative fee added. If for any reason I have to cancel the trip, your deposit will be refunded. Otherwise the deposit is nonrefundable unless we can fill your spot. After July 29th the room fees will not be refundable.
We are limited to 15 tour participants including myself. I will lead some short workshops in each major city. In the event you bring family members they are free to go off on their own while you attend my workshops. You don’t have to take workshops but you are paying for my planning and workshop time.
Please let me know if you are interested in signing up for this fabulous trip. I will not offer this particular itinerary again. Future trips to Italy will be central and southern regions only.
Ciao, Lucia
Adult Children of Alcoholics 22nd Annual Convention
Lucia Capacchione’s Presentations November 8 & 9, 2008
1) Keynote Workshop: Saturday November 8, 12:30 - 2:00 PM
Recovering Our Inner Child through Inner Family Work
As we grow up, we're taught to judge and avoid our feelings and needs. In doing so, we lose touch with our Inner Child and our true Self. The Inner Child lives in our emotions and physical body. The roots of our creativity, playfulness and spirituality are also found in our Inner Child. In this workshop we meet our Inner Family and develop a Nurturing and a Protective Parent within to care for the Inner Child. We embrace all of our feelings and needs and become our own loving parent. Exercises include: Drawing out Your Inner Child, Love Letter to the Inner Child, and Calling Upon the Protective Parent.
2) Keynote Address: Saturday, November 8, 7:30 - 9:00 PM
Reparenting Our Selves: Re-negotiating with the Inner Critical Parent
The Critical Parent was originally formed in response to our family of origin’s beliefs and behavior patterns. As children we used self-criticism as a Protective Parent substitute in order to survive, predict, and attempt controlling chaotic situations. As adults we are able to reevaluate our beliefs, expectations, and goals, and can turn the Inner Critic into an ally. Self-acceptance gained through Inner Family work relieves us from the burden of perfectionism and the need to rescue and protect the Inner Child in others. Exercises include: Getting in Touch with Feelings, Meet Your Critical Parent, and Embracing Your Inner Brat.
3) Closing Address: Sunday November 9, 9:45 - 11:15 AM
Getting Off the Teeter Totter
Practicing self-care through Inner Family work removes expectations from others to be the loving and protective parents we never had. As we heal our relationship with ourselves, we stop turning others into parent substitutes or surrogate children needing to be protected and rescued. We leave behind our role as a “parentified child” or victim, and engage in healthy, balanced interactions. In dialogue with the audience we will identify power imbalances in current relationships and learn how to get off the teeter totter in which one person assumes a parental role and the other a child role. (This presentation will be a preview of Dr. Capacchione’s next book of the same name.)
